Chapter 24 - the execution

Do you believe that a person should be executed (killed) for doing something wrong? Why or why not? Would you witness it?

  2. This chapter was so violent that it was funny. I also think the khmer rouge soldier deserved it.

  3. It depends what the person did because there are reason for people to be killed by doing something wrong.Yes I would witness if someone gets killed by doing something wrong because I need to know what happen why did they get killed by that person and what did the do wrong.

  4. I have two response. First i think that the soldier should have died because he has murdured innocent people just because of Pol Pot.

Second i think that he should have not died because they can use him to get information from him. even though their is a possibility that he may run to the khmer Rouge and "snitch" on the people but they could have tourchered him to the point where he would give up. We never know mabey he was a good person at heart.

  5. For most situations relating to death I would object that option. If I had gone through what Loung went through I would have wanted to see the Khmer Rouge soldier suffer. I'd want to show them what they've put me through and get revenge especially if a family member was killed by a soldier. I'd want them to duffer but not quite sure about killing them. I think I'd feel guilty if I killed someone because I'd have to live with that for the rest of my life.

I don't believe people should ever be executated because two wrongs will never make a right, no matter how bad a person might be they're life shouldn't be the cost. I would never witness an executation if I ever had to.

  7. I believe that no one has the right to choose who gets to die or not but they are bad people in this world and I wouldn't want some one bad to die in a easy way in others words, get executed. I don't know if I would witness some one getting executed, no one knows until it happens to them but i might be able to if it was someone i hate.

  8. Sally,
I Dont agree with that desition, It depends On What the person did, But in Other case ; they should give to the person a punishment por pay for what he did !
And yea i would witness if someone gets killed for doing something wrong in their life ; like a worng desition that make that peson get 2 do that.

  9. I don't think people should be killed for just anything.but it also depends if the person did something bad, then maybe he should die. I know there is a thing called second chance but some people make choice and they should know they are going to have to pay for it in the end. Anyway i am saying not just can one should be executed, maybe go to jail. Now to say if i would watch the execution. I don't really know what i would do because if i knew he killed one of family i would want him to pay too. But then i don't really want to see someone die, plus there is always his side of the story.

  10. Well it depends on what the person did and how harsh the situation is. Yes if you have such courage to kill other people why not see how it feels to be killed for no reason." Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you."

  11. I do believe in punishment, but it depends on the reason why they did that bad thing or what that bad thing is. Honestly I wouldn't want to watch it because me saying I want to means that I've gone through slot and I need some way to cope with it and or to have closure

  12. I kind of need more than just doing something wrong. Doing something wrong could be anything from stealing food to save your family, or raping people or even killing people. I think that there are certain crimes that should be more than just prison. I mean, I don't want the people to die and all, but they committed crimes that are so horrible that they can never fully change. They may get slightly better but I doubt they'll ever be completely good again. So I think the most extreme crimes should be punishable by death.
And no I would not witness that because who would want to see someone die?

  13. Yes I belive that he should have been killed because he killed many inocent families for no reason. An eyev for an eye and a tooth for a tooth that is what i think.

  14. I have a very hard time with the question of capital punishment. Does it really do any good? Studies have proven otherwise, but how old are these studies? Do families of victims feel better once the criminal has been executed? I would be interested in that answer. If it was a member of my family that was hurt, then maybe my answer would be, "Yes!" It's different whenever things hit home!

  15. Of course I would see my own enemy being tourture or killed because through days, weeks, months even years i finally have revenge to witness the brutallity being given to the soldier.

  16. I think a person should be executed forn something wrong. Like if they killed or hurt alot of people then they should be executed so they cant hurt anyone else.

  17. i think yes because what he did was very wrong so he need to pay for he's actions

  18. Yes, because he killed so many innocent people. Some people don't have any family members. I wouldn't witness it because I think it's nasty, especially the way they killed him.

  19. I don't believe the other blog of mine was posted, but what i said was that i believe that the a person should be executed for killing other people. but at the same time the person may have not have had a choice to actually say no, because if he was to say no he would die.

  20. I think it depends on what the person had specifically done wrong.
But if it was the Khmer Rouge soldier being executed, I would agree with it.
According to this chapter, the soldier killed innocent people.
I know if any of my family members were killed, I wouldn't be okay with the killer still being alive.
But at the same time, revenge doesn't really solve the problem. Yeah, the soldier may be dead, but it doesn't bring back the person you lost.

  21. This Chapter Was Crazy I Would Never Want Anything Like This Happening To One Of My Friends Or Family members

  22. In my opinion, I feel it depends on the crime done. An execution is a very serious consequence but it's for very serious crimes. Although in chapter 24 we don't know why the Khmer Soldier is in the jail, we know that the people are taking advantage of the opportunity to kill him. I do agree with the idea of execution because there are many cases where people do deserve to be executed. I think I could witness an execution if it were a beating, like chapter 24. But if it were an electrocuted execution, I think I'd have to walk away.

  23. This chapter was so full of violence. This though comes through every soldier they think as what are the odds of them getting caught. Meanwhile one of them get taken to town I also think that the scence with the old lady was storng because she felt she was avenging her loss of family members.

  24. 1. Tough question... I'm in the middle of this decision. I think that if the person committed a serious crime, then he/she should get executed. Some people even get executed because people assume that they committed the crime, while they were innocent. At the same time, I feel like if I was the one to execute someone, it would come back to me. Like people say, "What goes around comes around." Yes, the soldier killed many innocent human beings, but does it solve anything if you kill him? The soldiers were controlled by the government, so they had to listen to the orders they asked them to do. The government probably paid the soldiers to kill people in Cambodia. If a soldier killed one of my family members, I would be furious. At first, I would plan revenge, but then I would realize that there is no point in killing someone. Yes, people may have different point of views, but how does killing help us?

This is off-topic, but remember when we had the guest speaker in town meeting (Hashim Garrett) tell us about his story? He was in a gang and he had shot someone and a few years later, someone shot him. He wanted revenge at first, but realized there was no point of doing it. Instead, he forgave the person who shot him. I believe that if it is necessary, people can execute the person that they want revenge on. At the same time, I think that they should forget about what happened and not get involved in revenge.

    2. I would definitely not want to witness a person being executed because it seems like a gruesome way of showing a person’s death. I would feel ashamed. If you’re at the setting where the execution is taking place, everyone that is attending the execution, is taking their "revenge" on the person who is being executed. Like I said before, I wouldn't want to be labeled as a "murderer."

This was such a hard question to decide which side to be on.

  25. I have mixed opinions on this topic. When I hear a story about a man that killed and raped women , or others who killed children , I say, ''He should be killed.'' But then again It's not OK for anyone to kill people, so why sink to their level .

  26. This is a tough question. I wouldn't kill the person for doing something wrong. I would punish them but not kill them because killing them won't bring back my loved ones. I wouldn't like to witness the execution even if I hated the person to an extreme.

  27. In this case he should be killed but it all depends on whats happening. This chapter was really violent by the way

  28. In my opinion i think killing a person its only gods choice. What ever that person did would affect him in the future because what ever goes around comes around.I would not enjoy watching an excecution because the mental image of the person getting killed would always stay stuck in my mind. My councios woulden't be clean at all.

  29. sometimes i get angry and say that i want someone to die but i know killing someone is wrong. Soemtimes people are mad and kill without thinking about it. You should never do that but sometimes its hard to think when your mad.

  30. Do you believe that a person should be executed (killed) for doing something wrong? Why or why not? Would you witness it?

I only believe in execution if someone killed someone else, because you cant take a life away, and then just live on with yours. I would not have witnessed it, because the fact of people gathering to watch someone killed sickens me.
