  2. I think the mood for Meng, Eang and Loung might have felt ready, when they left for America. The waited months and was living a very poor life. They had plans for life's and family, so they where just ready. I think she ended her story good. She ended with her going to her new life, it not like she can tell you all of her life story!! And she did add an epilogue with her going back but I wanted to know if Khouy found his wife or marred a new one?

  5. Loung, Eang, and Meng were excited. They were excited because they were going to live a different lifestyle from how they lived in Cambodia. They were going to leave everything behind that happened to them in Cambodia. They waited several months, until they finally got the opportunity to go to America. It was a life changing moment for all of them because they were going to have a better life. I felt really happy for them. :) They went through so much struggle and God finally listened to their prayers. They are going to start a new beginning to their lives.

Like (Journey) says, "Don't stop believing.."

In my opinion, Loung ended the story
perfectly because she explains that she is going to live in America with Eang and Meng. She had hope for her future! I agree with Nelly because she did add an epilogue, which explained what happened to her throughout the years she became older.

-Nelly, I think Khouy didn't find his wife and married another women he liked (I suppose?)

By the way, I love this book! It was a touching story. Thanks for letting us read it!! :)

  6. Loung, Meng and Eang were very excited to be finally leaving. They no longer had to worry about making money because they found a sponsor that would take them to Vermont. Loung was happy to move on because she knew that Pa's memory would always be with her.

I think where she ended her story was good. Since there is an epilogue she can explain what happened after that. So that was a great way to end the book.

  7. Loung, Meng, and Eang were very excited to be leaving their hardships and old life behind to finally start over. At first Loung was worried about Pa, and if his spirit would stay with her, wherever she went. But Loung, along with Meng and Eang knew this was what they needed - a better life.

Loung ended the story flawlessly. I couldn't have thought of any other way to end it then the way she had. She explained exactly what happened after moving to America, which left me with no other questions.

  8. I think there was a feeling of relief behind her happiness. I think that because they were going through so much, they lost so much, it was a relief to finally be safe, and know that no one is going to try to kill them or control them. I liked the ending and like nelly said she can't tell her entire life story. I comend loung and her brothers and one sister, they survived they might have lost a lot but in the long run they are alive, they are out of the camps and they already made it through the worse so they proved they could make it through anything

  9. I guess the ending of the book was good. How she was able to move on with her life. also how Everyone was happy and so they made loung dress. Plus every thing seemed so much better. I also like the dream Loung dream of pa because I could just picture that happening.

  13. I personally think that they were ready after living in Vietnam for a few months planning out how they were going to rescue the rest of the family. They were very excited to leave their old hurtful past and step into their bright future in America. The story ended really well, just the way i expected!

  14. I think that they were HYPE!! I think that they couldnt have think of a better place to better their self. I think they were "Emotiondas" (excited) and i think that where Loung ended the story is ok..

2.I think that her way of ending was to leave the readers wanting to read more, which is what we are learning in school.

  15. I think that Meng, Eang, and Loung are all excited to escape the madness in Cambodia. But I also feel they feel a little dismal considering they are leaving their entire family in Cambodia or Vietnam. And they also have no control over what might happen to their family in the future. It would be like placing me in the middle of Russia and expecting me to start a new life. And the thought of your family will haunt you everyday.

    2. And I would have ended to book at the second to last chapter, From Cambodia to Vietnam just to raise curiosity and MAKE readers read the second book. :) Overall, its a great book. I have already recommended it.

  18. I think that it was a good way to end the story because everyone was safe and had a place to live with food water and shelter. When Loung was leaving for america she was exited because when Meng told hem they picked a dress and they were happy so they left really exited to go to a place that is safe from the Khmer Rouge.

  20. I think Loung, Meng, and Eang were excited and a little nervous. I think they were ready for the change after what they've been through. Long was especially excited because she knew her father would have been proud of her.

I think the ending was great. I liked how she added a epilogue so I knew what happened to her family. I think it was a good way to end such a sad book.

  21. I feel that Loung, Meng, and Eang were very exited and a little scared, because of the simple fact that they will soon be entering a new environment. I also think that they all felt happy because they were going to have a new family in the United States. I feel that the author of the book that wrote First They Killed My Father ended the story well because no one should have to continue there life going through hell, NO ONE should have to be tormented and sequestered families.

  22. Loung was really happy for heading to the americas because she knew thats where everyone goes to get a better happy life. yeah i agree where she left the story because its happy

  23. i think Loung was very happy to know that she was getting away from starvation and violence. I also think she was very happy to know that she was going to get a new family even though her family would never be replaced.I dont agree with the author to end the story there. I wanted to know how she had to deal with memories and how it affected her or how she overcame them.

  25. What is the mood of Meng, Eang and Loung as they leave for America? Do you agree
with where Loung ended her story? Why or why not?

The mood of the children when they heard they were leaving for america, was excitement, and happiness. I dont agree where she ended the story, because it left alot of people wondering, and in a non-fiction book like that, i think she should try to get more of her story out.
